Energy Healing And Associated Beliefs

By Christine Taylor

Maintaining overall health and well being can be a challenge. At the same time, when ill or experiencing pain from a minor injury, there are a number of energy healing techniques available. Unlike Western practitioners whom often run a number of tests before providing a diagnosis and treatment, many of these alternative forms can often provide immediate relief through forms which use hands-on, hands-off or distance healing.

Most often, these healing arts are provided by practitioners who have been trained in various methods and techniques. In most cases, energy is transferred from the healer to the recipient. The methods and techniques used can vary from distance, hands-off and hands-on to color and sound therapies.

Often considered Spiritual in nature, the practices are not associated with faith healing. While this is the case, those obtaining these healing methods need to have a strong belief in the process. Otherwise, those paying what is often a high price for these services will most likely leave disappointed.

There are several schools of thought associated with these methods and techniques. For example, therapeutic touch, Manual therapy massage, Reiki, Rolfing, Qigong, Contact and Distance just to name a few. While not as well known, color and sound therapies are often provided at New Age health and psychic fairs and have received positive feedback from those in attendance. In fact, these events can often be a great way to explore a number of different alternative methods and techniques in the healing arts.

While considered a Spiritual form, the methods are not associated with any organized religion. As such, most are labeled as non-denominational when it comes to associated beliefs. In fact, a number of organized religions view the methods as being outside the concept of God. For, unlike faith which often requires the laying on of hands by a priest or other religious figure, most practitioners do not have to be associated with any religious belief.

While this is the case, both share skepticism when it comes to those whom believe in either form. At the same time, the nursing profession and others have found therapeutic touch to have merit though still remain skeptical of other forms.

Distance healers are often the most difficult to accept as valid practitioners. For, it is often hard for individuals to believe that someone thousands of miles away can transfer energy to a recipient in another area. At the same time, there have been scientific studies and success stories which suggest that the technique may be viable.

Whether believing in distance or other forms, the methods and techniques have become more popular over the last few decades. For, the more individuals who experience success with the methods and techniques used in different areas have provided a number of reviews and testimonials which have created more interest over time. As a result, more people than ever before are now at least trying these alternative methods.
