Get Your Kid Help With A Geneva Chiropractor

By Julio Riess

Parents may not know whether to take their children to a chiropractor, especially if they do not appear to have symptoms that would indicate a need for it. Children may suffer spinal misalignments as infants, which is not their fault. A Geneva chiropractor recognizes the causes and can help.

Though many believe that misalignments are caused by things such as accidents or even bad posture, some children were exposed to them during the birthing process. The fragile neck of a newborn can be damaged during a hard delivery, which means they can suffer subtle misalignments in their vertebrae.

These subluxations that can be caused during the birthing process can prove to be very dangerous for an infant. Scarier still, they often do not feel a thing, because the cartilage in their tiny bodies is still so young and flexible. But if they do get subluxations, these can cause such dangerous conditions as breastfeeding issues, learning disorders, asthma, ear infections, and even Sudden Infant Death Syndrome.

Pediatricians often times do not look for subluxations in an infant because they are fairly rare. As a result, if your child develops any of the aforementioned conditions later in life, the doctor may not realize that the difficult birth is the culprit. This is why it is a good idea to take an infant to see a chiropractor early.

As children grow older, subluxations can result in additional difficulties, such as frequent sore throats, back pain, and scoliosis. Parents and children alike report that, within a short period of regular spinal adjustments, kids and teens are able to resume sports and other activities with improved flexibility and little or no pain.

The child will likely get an EMG Thermoscan to see their muscles and spine, and see if there are any abnormalities. It does no harm to the baby and does not take a lot of time. Based on these results, the doctor will know if any further action such as adjustments are needed.
